Description
Around 1700, flowers didn't simply go into a vase. In a flower holder like this one, every stem got its own spout, so each bloom could be admired on its own. This heart-shaped holder with five spouts was made between c. 1690 and 1715 at De Metaale Pot, one of the potteries of Delft. The mark LVE on the base belongs to its owner, Lambertus van Eenhoorn. A little cherub plays among the flowers.
The flower holder is 16 centimetres tall and belongs to the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
